your area of responsibility
For our Bioinformatics department we are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic and creative scientific software developer / bio-informatician to strengthen our team. In this role, you contribute to the development of automated data processing pipelines and tools that empower internal users to answer their research questions.
Theses objectives are listed to clearly define the initial workload and tasks. As the objectives are met, we will collaboratively define new objectives. Your initiative and ideas here are very important!
Automate to enable user autonomy: The Bioinformatics department develops automated systems to process data and websites that enable users to gain insights in their data themselves.
You help in analyzing the workflow and propose processes that contribute to automation and
user autonomy.
Process and review user feedback and requests: During the first two months analyze, review and discuss user feedback on internal software. Help in setting up an (automated) procedure to
standardize communication, scheduling and reporting of user requests
Design and implement Django application views: In the first 120 days you will build and test a new Django application view. You will document and present this new view to internal stakeholders and implement requested changes.
Refactor and document existing pipelines: You will help to streamline and simplify existing pipelines by modularizing and decoupling tasks. The tasks will be integrated in Airflow Apache,
that we use as a workflow orchestration system.
Scout, test and develop: We continuously revise and update the technology and techniques used for generating data. For this to work, you need to test the new data, test existing algorithms and
develop prototypes before we develop a production workflow.
