your area of responsibility

  • Conduct monthly safety inspections of fire extinguishers and fire safety equipment across all VAPAHCS campuses.

  • Assist with fire evacuation drills as a Government Service employee.

  • Collaborate with the Fire Extinguisher Service company during annual inspections and testing.

  • Communicate findings clearly, both orally and in writing.

  • Maintain databases and logs related to safety inspections.

  • Provide courteous service to VA customers while supporting the VA mission.

  • Ensure the security of keys and electronic access cards for secure areas.

  • Conduct basic facility inspections for fire and life safety compliance.

  • Support activities related to Environmental Management and Emergency Management under supervision.

  • Perform other relevant responsibilities as needed.

your profile

  •  Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

  • Capability to work in various environmental conditions.

  • Familiarity with operating fire alarm panels and resetting devices.

  • Valid California Non-Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read basic drawings and apply relevant safety codes.

  • Experience with databases and record maintenance.

  • Commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.

  • Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits).
